The conference unites global experts to advance plant-based solutions for health, sustainability, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Background
International Vegetarian Union – IVU
Founded in 1908, the IVU is the world’s first global nonprofit promoting vegetarian culture, health, and environmental awareness. It supports worldwide vegetarian development through training, resource-sharing, and sustainability initiatives. Post-pandemic, the IVU prioritized conferences in Kenya and India and facilitated cross-cultural exchanges in China.
Asia-Pacific Vegan Union – APVU
An IVU affiliate since 1999, APVU advances vegetarianism in Asia via industry certification, training, and events. It hosts the IVU’s Vegan Food Academy, sharing global plant-based recipes.
Hangzhou Vegetarian Association
Established in 2016, this nonprofit promotes vegetarian lifestyles and has hosted 9 annual Hangzhou Vegetarian Culture Festivals. It aims to establish Hangzhou as Southeast China’s Vegetarian Capital and to foster a sustainable domestic vegetarian ecosystem.
Conference Theme
Integration and Collaboration of Wisdom combining:

智 – Zhì: Integration of human wisdom with digital innovation – AI, e-commerce, big data
This fusion redefines vegetarianism beyond food – it’s a transformative new quality of life influencing industries globally. Leveraging Hangzhou’s strengths in the digital economy and AI, the forum will drive breakthroughs in the vegetarian sector.
